It’s great enough to be at the Grand Wailea resort on Maui, but now it’s even better to be a guest of the beautiful 780-room beachfront resort. Grand Wailea’s Spa Grande, with its 100 treatment rooms, redwood saunas and waterfalls, is one the top spas in Hawaii. It’s offering two new treatments – the Royal Niu Coconut Dream for Two and the Niu Detox & Muscle Relieve.

Like most things Hawaiian – Niu has a rich history. In this case, early Polynesian travelers brought the coconut in canoes when they first set foot on the Hawaiian Islands. Over time, legends were born and soon the niu tree became a magical and sacred bridge between earth and heaven. Today, the use of coconut products in spas has become indispensible for health, beauty and wellness.

The Royal Niu Coconut Dream for Two is a two-and-a-half spa experience for two. Similar to the old days, when Hawaiians used the raw coconut fibers for special treats, Spa Grande incorporates fibrous coconut husks as exfoliation tools for the application of a mild coconut scrub. The coconut scrub is followed by a coconut butter body cocoon that includes a scalp and foot massage. Next, there is a 25-minute coconut milk bath, leaving you with beautiful and radiant skin. The Royal finale is a 50-minute massage performed with coconut oil, shells and husks. The gliding and rolling of smooth coconut shells and husks across muscles promote muscle relaxation and physical well-being.

Niu Detox and Muscle Relieve is an 80-minute treatment with coconut delicacies. While the intake of coconut water has internal detoxifying benefits, the external use of raw coconut fibers brushed along the skin sets in motion a powerful detoxification process which strongly enhances lymphatic glands activity, circulation, and cell regeneration. The dry skin brushing with coconut fibers is followed by a 50-minute massage performed with natural, pure coconut oil and coconut shells of varying sizes and shapes. The application of pure coconut oil not only moisturizes the skin, but also helps relieve painful inflammation, and heals dry, cracking skin. While the gliding of coconut shells across muscles promotes muscle relaxation and physical well-being, the firmer and deeper rolling of whole coconut husks easily relieves tension to both superficial and deep layers of muscle, fascia and other structures.
