Something very special happens when real estate developers get together with elementary school children. Kenneth S. Horn, president of Alchemy Properties, builder of high-end, high-quality properties in Manhattan and Brooklyn, gave a tour of the Isis, his organization’s latest project, to first-graders from P.S. 290. After their teacher, Paula Ragovin, followed the construction of the condominium project where two-bedroom units with home offices sell for $1.348 million, the students developed special relationships with construction workers, salespeople and the development team. They even did special drawings of the building.
In response, Horn himself gave a tour of the property to the class and their parents. The developer was surprised by the level of sophistication of these young New Yorkers, who asked about price and concrete.
“This is a process that is obviously as interesting to children as adults,” says Horn. “It’s amazing how much these minds can absorb. They’re 7 and they know how concrete is produced.”
Alchemy has been busy lately. In addition to the Isis, Griffin Court on 54th St. and 10th Ave. should be ready for occupancy in September. Big studios will cost $735,000. [...]
