For anyone wondering what that funny-looking box at the lower right-hand corner of the sign that resembles the television static from the movie Poltergeist, it’s a QR Code (the QR stands for quick response). Originally invented in Japan years ago for industrial bar codes on packaging for warehousing and production purposes, and now used across several industries, QR codes haven’t really caught onto a wide audience just yet. They’re fairly straight forward though. Smartphone users snap a photo of the box and then the user is to lead to a website with additional information or receives a text, all individualized for the specific QR Code they captured.
However, after much buzz over the past few years, the real estate team here at Quinn & Co. is finally seeing a major push for the use of QR codes for marketing, advertising and publicity purposes in both residential and commercial real estate. We’re very much looking forward to how the enhanced content continues to evolve within the industry!
